Logo Elements

Tone it up

Logo – ‘Tone it up’ the type direction fits the up in the name.

Icon – stylised woman doing a flexible pose. Appealing because women would like to be this flexible. Also she’s detailed without being too realistic and over the top as an icon – will allow for the logo to be quite small without distortion.

Type – the main font for ‘Tone it up’ is Gill Sans Ultra Bold – it is simple, neat and fairly formal. It is fitting with the branding being ‘toned’ in a way, not all over the joint like a handwriting font.
For ‘Womens Fitness Centre’ I have used Century Gothic in all lowercase. It’s fairly fine and petite, also fitting with being ‘toned’ and ‘feminine’.

Colours – I have chosen pink and purple for the main colours for the branding. These colours are feminine and soft on the eyes.
In the campaigns- posters, ads, merch, etc. these colours will be mixed with black and white. These colours together are crisp, clean and classy as well as making it more modern.

Looking at some cool merch ideas. I like the logo on the plain black background – it would fit with my logo and my idea of having the logo on black and white backgrounds.

New Design Ideas

This is what I have come up with while trying to upgrade my logo.

I wanted to somehow rearrange the type so it was a bit more interesting and symbolic than plain left to right type.
Although ‘tone’ is probably the key word in the company name, ‘up’ works in a visual sense..

New Inspirational Logos

Found these two logos when searching for some new inspiration for my logo.

Fitness Training for her – I really liked the way the icon and ‘for her’ was the only coloured part of the logo, and also how those two elements were pretty much the only organic and feminine shapes where the type is quite hard-edged and bold.

*Might try this, changing the font to something more structured rather than a handwriting type I originally used. 

Ladies Workout Express – I really liked the colour combination, although the logo itself looks a little old school.

Needs a Change

There’s something not quite right with my finished logo, it doesn’t look structured enough or that professional. So I’m trying to change maybe the font or the arrangement to give it a new edge. I think I might look for some new inspiration with a different view.

Appeal

The main thing I was hoping to achieve with this Business was that it had the appeal as it is a women’s only gym, creating a comfortable and relaxed environment for all women (including those who are self-conscious about working out in front of the opposite sex). This cuts out a lot of embarrassment with exercise and training ensuring that these women can workout to their best potential.

In a mixed gym situation, some women don’t perform to their ability as they can either overdo it as a means of showing off or just trying to keep up with those around her, or not do things properly because she is too busy worrying about what she looks like to those around her.

Also for the same reason of ‘appeal’ I didn’t want to call the institute a ‘gym’, but rather a fitness centre as the main aim being to suit each individual woman’s needs whether it be fitness, health, weight loss, toning , relaxation or body building. Fitness centre seems to cover more of these points.
